Lampar has been active in Michigan Democratic politics since 1976,
when he supported President Carter at Kalamazoo College; became a
precinct delegate in 1980 to help Congressman James Blanchard win
re-election; attended the 1988 Democratic National Convention in Atlanta
as the finance director of the Michigan Democratic Party; won a write-in
Democratic primary election for State Representative in 1992; and,
chaired the 12th Congressional District Democratic Committee from
1994-95.
